Who is responsible
PickRoute UK and pickroute.app are operated by DANIEL BUSINESS SUPPORT LTD, the controller responsible for the processing described in this notice. For questions or data protection requests, email grigoriudaniel2@gmail.com. This notice covers the app, our presentation website and support correspondence. Company number 11694838, registered in England and Wales. Registered office: 9 Heol Ebwy, Cardiff, Wales, CF5 5EB.
Location and navigation
With your device permission, PickRoute uses your location, movement and heading to display your position and guide the trip you start. During active navigation, location use can continue when the phone is locked or another app is open. Stop navigation to end active trip tracking. Ordinary map browsing does not request background tracking. You can change location permission in your device settings; without it, live guidance is unavailable.
Online maps, searches and routes
Mapbox processes the requests needed to display maps, find places and calculate routes. Depending on the feature, requests include the map area, text you search for, a proximity position, start and destination coordinates, roads you select, and vehicle dimensions. In the current service, route and search requests pass through PickRoute’s server before reaching Mapbox. These request details and results are handled in memory. The gateway retains aggregate counts by service and UTC time period to enforce request limits, rather than retaining searches or a personal journey history. Map display and downloads use the Mapbox SDK separately. Internet services also receive connection information, such as an IP address. New app versions create a random installation access key, stored in the device Keychain or Keystore. Our gateway stores its cryptographic hash, creation time, access status and request counts by service and UTC period. This lets us limit or revoke one installation without disabling every user. It is a pseudonymous identifier, not a hardware identifier; it is not sent to Mapbox and is not used for advertising. The app can show a shortened support reference. Optional diagnostics are separate from these service-protection records.
Road information
PickRoute’s regional service and other configured road-data services process the road areas being checked. OpenStreetMap observations may come from regional extracts or Overpass requests; available English strategic-road closures come from National Highways. Our regional query service does not maintain a personal journey history. The Ordnance Survey connection is disabled. Locally reported blockages are kept on the device in this version and may affect requests for alternative routes.
Information stored on your device
The app keeps vehicle settings, preferences, saved places or search text, recent destinations, trip-resume information and local blockage reports on your device. Downloaded map regions are also stored there. There is no PickRoute user account or account synchronisation. A destination is sent to the relevant online provider when you use it to plan or resume a route. The information kept for a saved place depends on the app version and how the place was chosen. Existing saved places can include a name and coordinates. Newer saved-search records retain the text you entered and require you to choose a fresh result when reopened. Previously saved records remain until you explicitly update or remove them; the app does not silently choose a replacement destination. Device backups and exported files are controlled separately by your operating system and chosen file or sharing services.
Mapbox telemetry
The Mapbox SDK separately processes location and technical usage data, including device/app information and generated identifiers, to provide, measure and improve its services. Mapbox describes measures to de-identify telemetry. The map information/attribution button provides its telemetry choice, separate from PickRoute’s optional diagnostics switch. Online maps, searches and route requests remain necessary when you use those features. We do not use these services for advertising or cross-app advertising tracking.
Optional diagnostics
Share technical diagnostics in Settings is off until you opt in. When enabled, Sentry receives crash and error information, technical app/device information, and selected basic feature events, such as whether a route calculation succeeded. These feature events do not include your search text, destination or journey coordinates. Screenshots and session recordings are disabled. Technical error reports can contain stack traces and other failure details; filtering is used to reduce personal information, and reports should not be assumed to be anonymous. Sentry receives connection information when a report is delivered. Server-side filtering is enabled and IP storage is disabled for new events. Earlier reports may include IP-derived approximate geography. Turning the diagnostics switch off stops new reports; turning it on takes effect at the next app launch. It does not delete reports already received. Our Sentry organisation uses its European storage region; provider support and other processing can also occur outside Europe.
Website and support
The presentation website has no advertising, analytics script, contact form or frontend cookies. Hostinger hosts our site and services; hosting processes connection information to deliver and protect them. Access/request logging is disabled in the checked site and API configuration, although operational error records may be generated. Emailing support shares your email address, message and attachments with us and the email providers. Send only the details needed to investigate the problem. Clicking an email link does not send a message automatically.
Why we use information
We use the information needed to provide the route and navigation features you request, and to respond to your support request, to perform our service agreement with you or take steps you request before entering one. We rely on consent for optional PickRoute diagnostics; you can withdraw it in Settings. We rely on legitimate interests in protecting the service, preventing abuse, enforcing usage quotas and investigating faults, while limiting the information retained. We may also retain information where needed to meet a legal obligation. Device permission controls access to location; it is separate from the Mapbox telemetry choice.
Recipients and international processing
The services described above receive information needed for their role: Mapbox for maps/search/routing, Hostinger for hosting, Sentry for optional diagnostics, configured road-data providers for road queries, and Google Gmail and your chosen email provider for support correspondence. App stores process downloads, testing and account information under their own policies. Providers can use infrastructure or support teams outside the United Kingdom, including in the EEA and United States. Where a restricted transfer needs safeguards, the applicable provider arrangements include standard contractual clauses with the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, or an applicable UK adequacy arrangement, including the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework for participating recipients. Mapbox’s and Hostinger’s processing addenda form part of their service terms; we have accepted Sentry’s processing addendum. You can contact us for information about the safeguards relevant to your data. Provider notices explain their separate processing and choices.

How long information is kept
Local app data remains until you remove it with an available app control, clear the app’s data or uninstall it; backups and exported files are managed separately. You can remove downloaded regions in Offline Maps. Search and routing request bodies and results are not written to the gateway’s usage database; its aggregate counters are not a personal travel history. Support correspondence is kept while a request remains open and afterwards only for as long as needed to follow up, handle a complaint or dispute, or meet a legal obligation. Operational error records are retained only as needed to diagnose or secure the service. Optional diagnostic events expire under Sentry’s event-retention settings; its published retention is 30 days for its free Developer plan and 90 days for paid plans. Retention applied when an event is received can differ from the current plan. We may remove relevant reports earlier in response to a valid request. Provider security, account and audit records have separate retention rules. Installation access records remain while the credential can access the service. Revoked hashes are retained to prevent the same credential being reactivated. Installation usage counters older than roughly three months are removed when the gateway next records usage; aggregate account counters are separate. A Keychain credential can survive reinstalling the app. Contact support with the installation reference for questions or a deletion request.
Your rights and choices
Depending on the processing and applicable law, you may ask to access, correct or erase your data, restrict or object to processing, or obtain a portable copy. You can withdraw consent for optional diagnostics without affecting the lawfulness of earlier processing. Email us to exercise these rights; we may ask for information needed to identify the relevant records and verify the request. We cannot promise to match de-identified diagnostics to an email address. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office.
Intended audience
PickRoute is intended for adult drivers. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly seek personal information from children. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information so that we can investigate and take appropriate action.
Changes to this notice
We will update this notice when the service or its processing changes and show the updated date here. Material new optional processing will require the relevant choice or consent before it starts.
